Where Raw Human Nature Meets an Increasingly Technological World

MB MacKenzie is an emerging contemporary artist whose work explores the tension between our raw, organic humanity and the increasingly technological world we inhabit. Working across fine pencil, watercolor, and acrylic, she creates evocative works that examine identity, connection, transformation, and what it means to remain deeply human in an age of accelerating change.

Formally trained in art at the University of California, Santa Barbara, MacKenzie’s creative path has moved across disciplines and continents. She worked as a graphic artist in Frankfurt, Germany, and Los Angeles before bringing her artistic eye to landscape design and a career deeply connected to the natural world. These seemingly disparate experiences—art, design, technology, nature, and the human form—now converge within her contemporary practice.

Her work often places the organic in conversation with the mechanical: the softness and imperfection of the human figure against structures, patterns, and visual references to technology. Through the precision of fine pencil, the fluidity and transparency of watercolor, and the dimensional possibilities of acrylic, MacKenzie moves between realism and abstraction, allowing the recognizable and the unexpected to coexist.

At the heart of her work is a question increasingly relevant to our time:

As technology transforms the world around us, what does it mean to remain human?

Rather than offering an answer, MacKenzie creates space for contemplation. Her pieces invite the viewer to look closer—to notice vulnerability alongside strength, nature alongside innovation, and the enduring need for connection within a world becoming more technologically mediated.

Her emerging body of work has already received juried recognition from the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, marking the beginning of a compelling new chapter in her exhibition career.

Through her work, MacKenzie isn't looking backward. She is creating at the intersection of what is timeless about humanity and what is still becoming.
